ZONES

Positive change relies on churches working together as one alongside leaders and groups from every sphere of city life. MTN believes this change will happen through  a systematic and permanent increase in the collective impact of the church in all aspects of life in, all parts of the city.

To develop this depth of impact in a place as vast as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, we need to grow in relational unity and strategic action in our localities, areas and neighbourhoods which MTN calls ZONES.

No one church or ministry can impact the whole city by themselves. We can do so much more when we work together as one alongside leaders and groups from every sphere of city life.

Zones will facilitate real change over a period of time through people gaining trust, sharing ideas, and going beyond their preconceptions. Then Zones can discover real community needs and take action.

WHAT IS A ZONE?

An MTN zone is a gathering of leaders from churches in a Mumbai locality who want to work together.

A zone usually starts with a Pastors Fellowship and then adds other leaders of Ministries, NGOs, Businesses, Educational bodies and other entities.

The zone will usually be facilitated by 3 or 4 local leaders who are part of MTN.

A zone is characterised by:

  • Deepening friendships and increasing sense of shared purpose

  • An emerging shared vision and mission

  • A growing understanding of the needs of their neighbourhood

  • An evolving collaborative plan for serving the locality

  • Developing projects together which meet local needs

WHAT DO ZONES DO?

A zone will host monthly gatherings for:

  • Prayer

  • Relational encouragement and fellowship

  • Seeking God’s vision for the zone

  • Participating in joint coaching and training

  • Developing strategic and collaborative responses to areas of need in the zone

A zone will assess the greatest needs of the communities in their area and will develop and implement programs which respond to those needs. A zone also exists to become an effective way of connecting and coming alongside other organisations in a neighbourhood such as local government, police, NGOs etc.

HOW DOES MTN RELATE TO A ZONE?

MTN invites long term connection and commitment to the city-wide movement. Because MTN is a movement, it doesn’t focus on 'membership'. Zones are networked to MTN, so individuals participating in their neighborhood zonal movement are automatically considered a part of MTN.

Since MTN is not a church/organization/denomination, individuals always remain members of their own existing churches and parts of their own organizations or denominations etc. MTN is a secondary place to belong and since it is not a community of worship, anyone who is part of MTN also belongs in their own churches and organizations.

MTN’s Zonal Development Working Group serves, encourages, supports, incubates, prays for, and spiritually covers zones and zone facilitators. In this attitude, a zone should be in agreement with the vision and values of MTN.
